Meet the team: Vilma's path to bridging data and innovation

Vilma's journey to becoming a vital member of the Algorithma team is rooted in her academic prowess and a deep-seated passion for data-driven solutions. Armed with a Master's degree in Engineering Mathematics, she found her calling in the intricate realms of statistics and programming. "I fell in love with statistics and programming during my university years," Vilma shared. "So, transitioning into the role of a Data Scientist felt like a natural progression."

Vilma's fascination with AI stems from her lifelong affinity for data and statistics. "Even as a child, I enjoyed counting things and making graphs," she reminisced. "AI presented itself as a powerful tool to continue exploring my passion for data and to tackle tomorrow's challenges head-on." She emphasized how AI's evolution in recent years has enabled the creation of highly detailed mathematical models, offering solutions to complex problems previously deemed insurmountable. 

One of Vilma's proudest achievements was her thesis project, which delved into the intersection of computer vision, AI, and LiDAR technology. Despite facing numerous challenges in a rapidly evolving field, Vilma and her team developed a unique algorithm for fusing LiDAR data over time. Their contributions hold significant promise for advancing the field, underscoring Vilma's commitment to innovation and problem-solving.

Outside of work, Vilma's interests are as diverse as her professional pursuits. From indulging in literature to exploring textile crafts, graphic design, and writing, she finds joy in a myriad of creative outlets. An avid thrifter and dancer, Vilma cherishes every moment spent indulging her passions.  

As the newest addition to the Algorithma team, Vilma is eager to learn from her colleagues and contribute to the company's growth.
