Meet the team: Anna Samuelsson – A mathematician driven by AI and real-world impact

We are thrilled to introduce Anna Samuelsson, a new addition to our team at Algorithma. Anna’s journey to her current role has been shaped by a lifelong passion for mathematics. This early love for math led her to delve deeply into the subject at university, where she studied everything from abstract algebra to applied mathematics and mathematical statistics. It was during this time that she discovered the potential of AI to apply mathematical principles to solve real-world problems.

Anna’s enthusiasm for AI stems from its creative and constantly evolving nature. For her, the most rewarding aspect of the field is not just the technical modeling but making a difference by bridging the gap between isolated technical systems and an AI-driven culture. This holistic view of AI has made Anna move beyond pure technical development into areas like idea generation, business development, and project management. Her goal is to contribute where she can be most impactful, whether that’s through coding or fostering a cross-functional AI-driven culture — and ideally, both.

"I've had a passion for math since childhood, always fascinated by its ability to solve problems. Now, I’m excited to use that passion to drive positive impact through AI, applying mathematical principles to create solutions that truly make a difference."

— Anna Samuelsson

Anna’s passion for AI is fueled by its rapid advancements and the new opportunities it continually presents. She is particularly excited about helping businesses harness the full benefits of AI and is eager to see how these technologies can be applied in innovative ways. Among her many accomplishments, Anna is proudest of her work on developing and implementing a deep learning computer vision model to identify faults in an industrial process. This project not only posed exciting technical challenges but also had a significant impact on the industry.

Anna’s work aligns closely with the values of Algorithma, particularly our commitment to ethical AI development. She believes that AI, like all technologies, has the potential to do both good and harm, and she is dedicated to ensuring that ethical considerations remain at the forefront of AI advancements. While AI excels in areas like predictions and pattern recognition, Anna recognizes that human judgment remains irreplaceable, making the collaboration between humans and machines crucial.

Outside of work, Anna’s curiosity extends to the animal kingdom, where she enjoys learning about animal behavior and spending time with her dog, especially during forest walks. She also finds relaxation in solving puzzles, having recently completed the challenging task of finishing an entirely black puzzle!

Looking ahead, Anna is excited to contribute to the growth of Algorithma, learning from both innovative projects and her talented colleagues. As AI continues to evolve rapidly, she looks forward to being part of a company at the forefront of this transformation. We are excited to have Anna on board and are confident that her unique blend of skills, passion, and values will make a significant impact as we continue to push the boundaries of AI innovation.
